    1. 2.1 Recognition of CAIU Retirees

      The CAIU Board of Directors would like to take a moment at this months Board meeting to recognize:

       

      DIANNE SHUEY for her retirement after 18 years of service to the CAIU.

      Professional Education Plan

      2009-2012

       

      Needs Assessment

       

      The following activities were completed in order to define professional development needs to be addressed as part of the plan:

      • Reviewed PASA, 4Sight, DIBELS, and additional assessment data
      • Gathered data on technological needs through teacher surveys
      • Reviewed exit surveys from trainings offered for CAIU staff
      • Met with TaC supervisor to identify PDE initiatives
      • Gathered data from Student Services Leadership team on future programmatic and instructional needs

       

      Targeted Goals – Those goals that are part of the Strategic Long Range Plan that apply specifically to the Professional Education Plan

       

      Goal #1:  Enhance the educational performance of all students

      ·         Strategy 1.1: Research, publish and implement internal standards for best practice in the delivery of services to all students

      ·         Strategy 1.2: Collect, analyze and use performance data to monitor student achievement and overall program effectiveness

      ·         Strategy 1.3: Explore and implement opportunities for students to develop and learn in authentic settings

       

      Goal #3: Recruit and maintain a quality staff

      ·         Strategy 3.4: Improve induction, professional development, and staff evaluation programs through evaluation, modification and subsequent implementation

      ·         Strategy 3.5: Continue the development and refinement of Qualified Paraeducator training programs

       

      Goal #8: Build local capacity to serve all students by utilizing research, evidence-based practices and professional expertise in collaboration with our clients

      ·         Strategy 8.1: Develop capacity building initiatives to assist districts in meeting state and federal accountability requirements for the twenty Indicators identified in the State Performance Plan

      ·         Strategy 8.2: Position the CAIU as a leader in planning and staff development for administrators, instructional staff, support staff, paraprofessionals, and parents

       

    4. 2.4 CAIU Technology Plan

      1.     Enhancing the educational experience by:

      a.     Performing technology analysis for teachers

      b.    Providing appropriate classroom tools and resources including (but not limited to) internet, internet 2, streaming content, video-conference, teacher web pages, communication tools, etc

      c.     Provide online learning solution

      d.    Utilize technology self-assessment to determine teacher training needs

      2.     Provide the appropriate technology for staff, students and teachers by:

      a.     Ensuring hardware and software are up to date and inventoried properly

      b.    Develop and enhance applications utilized by staff and member LEA

      c.     Create a video studio

      3.     Maintain robust infrastructure

      a.     Maintain WAN connections and add other educationally beneficial WAN members

      b.    Maintain internal WAN connections between IU main site and hub sites

      c.     Ensure network hardware and tools are up to date and meeting the utilization needs

      4.     Ensure staff have the appropriate professional development by:

      a.     Building technology awareness within administrative staff

      b.    Providing CAIU teachers with targeted professional development (based on self-assessments) – including PD related to web 2.0 and 21st century tools

      c.     Providing CAIU technical staff with the training necessary to support technology use

      d.    Providing work-force technology training to all staff

      5.     Promote and demonstrate the benefits of the WAN/CAIU consortium by:

      a.     Modeling collaboration and the use of technology (video-conferencing, professional development, webinars)

      b.    Leveraging the consortium for hardware purchases, VoIP sharing, etc to lower prices

      c.     Gather input from WAN members through the WAN Content and Utilization committee
